In 1835 the young Charles Darwin arrived on the Galapagos.  In February 2000, an older Ron and Glenda Kline did the same.  Charles' tour group took him to San Cristobol, Santiago, Floreana and Isabela Islands.  From this visit he determined much of the geologic formation of the islands and their biology.  In 1859 he published his revolutionary On the Origion of the Species.  The entire edition sold out on the first day!

We took the  sailing ship Rembrandt on our tour.  It was built in 1902 but has been refurbished many times and is quite modern inside.  The food was great.  Our cabin, however, was abit on the small side.  Two of us could not stand on the floor at the same time!

The Galapagos are desert islands owned by Ecuador.  There are two seasons - a warm, wet season which lasts from January until June, and a cool, dry season lasting from July to December.Although the Galapagos' most famous tourist was Charles Darwin, it was officially discovered by Fray Tomas de Berlanga, the Bishop of Panama in 1535.  The name Galapagos originated from the Spanish word for saddle, and was first used by a Flemish cartographer in 1536.
